The user manual for the Philips DVR642/37 that we recently purchased shows
that the TV Display can be configured for 4:3 PS (Pan Scan) which should
result in a full TV screen display but with the sides trimmed. Ours
doesn't seem to do anything different from the 4:3 LB (LetterBox) setting.
The picture is letterboxed in either case. One must use the Zoom function
to fill the screen.

Is the unit working correctly? Do other players handle widescreen DVDs
differently for playing on regular TVs?
