On my DVD recorder the chapters are only created automatically when
recording to a DVD-R disk in real time.
The auto chapter feature cam be turned off or set to 10 or 15 minute
intervals.
I find that it's better to add chapters after when recording to a
DVD-RW disk in VR mode as when recording chapters in the auto mode
then the chapter might be in the middle of an action scene rather than
at the start of the action scene.
If you DVD recorder has a skip forward function then you could skip
forward every 10 minutes and add a chapter manually.
Adding chapters should not use much space and there is usually a limit
of 99 characters that can be added per video.
