5.1=5 speakers plus a sub. L/R Front, L/R Surround, Center Dialog and Sub.

Go to a shop and listen to some systems to select the speakers you want.

You'll need a new receiver/amp with digital audio capabilities that decodes
Dolby Digital and preferably DTS.
