Hi there,
I noticed that nobody answered your question about how to defeat the
copywrite protection on the VHS tapes, and the DVD's... I think that
people also missed the point that you are trying to copy one DVD to
another DVD...
Yes, you can defeat them with an after market add-on. I also have the
RCA DRC8295N, but it is a Christmas Gift. It is just sitting in the
living room. Not wrapped, just in the box, staring at me and I am on
Christmas holidays right now.
I live in Canada and went to a company called "The Source". It is
formally known as "Radio Shack". I just came from a business trip from
the States, so I know that they have them (Radio Shack) there.
What you are looking for is: SIMA CT-200 with Go DVD. This is also
just sitting upstairs with the Combo unit for XMas... That and a pack
of 100 DVD+R by Memorex for $29.99. The SIMA CT-200 defeats the
copywrite protection. The makers of the unit do not endorse anyone
from making unauthorized duplication, yadda, yadda, yadda... The unit
cost $149.00 here in Canada. I am sure if you go on-line, you may be
able to get is somewhat cheaper than that. From what I have seen so
far, you should be able to connect an externat DVD player to this combo
unit with this SIMA CT-200 hooked up via the S-Video cable, or you can
use the RCA jacks as well. Although take to any person out there, and
they will tell you that the S-Video is the far superior cable. The
audio should just go from one unit to the other without interuption.
I have quite a collection of VHS tapes and I recently got a DVD burner
for my computer. It is so FRUSTRATING to make coasters it is
unbelieavable! I think that I am up to 20 coasters in a row now. Not
one has been made with any success at all. I have a had a few people
come over to see what the hell I am doing wrong. So far, nobody has
been able to help me. So, my lovely wife decided to make it alot
simpler on me. She brought me to The Source and told me to get a
VHS/DVD recorder combo unit and what ever "the hell else" I needed to
make it work the FIRST time! I am very much looking forward to hooking
it all up and start converting my video library. I can go to the
"Dollar Store" and get a pack of 3 DVD jackets for $1.00. Then with my
printer, I will be able to make covers for all those jackets. But one
thing that is a constant, I have heard NEVER to make use of those
labels for your CD or DVD's.
Have yourself a great Navy Day!
Mitch
