You are nitpicking.
When you rip, you play - as far as the drive knows. I realize that
there is difference in what the computer is doing.
If you can show me solid proof that there is a substantive difference
between ripping and playing in terms of how the DVD operates other
than possible speed differences then I will recant.
The manufacturers put Riplock in to keep the drive from running too
fast when playing. Ripping is a form of playing as far as Riplock is
concerned.
Now prove to me otherwise. And don't play weasel words or pedantic
word games. Show where there is a clear cut substantive difference.

Our revels now are ended. These are actors as I foretold
you were all spirits and are melted into air, into thin air,
and like the baseless fabric of this vision, the cloud-capped
towers, the gorgeous palaces, the solemn temples, the great
globe itself, yea, and all that it inherits, has dissolved,
and like this insubstantial pageant faded, leaves not a rack
behind. We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little
life is rounded with a sleep.
