This is an interesting discussion group; wish I had discovered it
earlier. I will stick with it now to improve my DVD recording skills
with your collective help.
I too am one of the "buy and return guys." Tried four times to get a
satisfactory result from a DVD recorder unit. Finally got one for $190,
an Insignia Model Nr IS-DVD100121 (Best Buys brand) that seems to work
good. It is a combo unit.
It does all these goodies:
Playback:
DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R+RW, JPEG Files on CD-R/RW, DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R+RW ; Audio
CD's and MP3/WMA files on CD-ROM, CD-R/RW
Recording:
DVD-RW in VR or Video format, and DVD-R, DVD+R/RW
Dubbing from and to DVD and VCR
I am new to DVD recording, and have a lot to learn about it. The manual
seems simple and straight forward and a lot less complicated than the
manuals on the other units I tried. The things I have tried so far are
dubbing from a tape, recording from TV, recording from another DVD
player using a DVD video and a DVD-RW disc I had recorded in Video mode.
So far I am very pleased with the outstanding features in this China
made device.
John
