To add music you could connect a CD player to the audio connection on
your DVD recorder and connect the video from the VCR to your DVD
recorder so while it's recording the picture it will be recording
music from your CD player.
Your have the following options for brightening up a dark video.
1 used a video editor on your computer
2 find an option on your DVD recorder that can increase the brightness
of the picture. On my DVD recorder there is an adjustment for the
white level.
3 You can also buy a device that connects between your VCR and DVD
recorder which boosts the brightness of the video signal.
