This is called a "Text" box, and its usually associated with the closed
captioning function of the TV, but it may also be a feature of the closed
captioning function of the DVD or VCR. Check your menus on all machine
involved, closed captioning should be "off" or "None" on all of them. This
problem can be duplicated on any TV which has built in multiple choice
closed captioning options. Its used to provide text (or at least it was
supposed to) to visually impaired viewers. I'll bet the box doesn't pop up
immediately, but only after 2 or three seconds, as the TV searches for text
data, which is non-existent.
Your Welcome.
