I don't own a Panasonic---DMR-ES20 but your DVD recorder might be
similar to mine.
I have an option to replace a recording each day, so if I set it up to
record the news for 30 minutes then each day the recorded news on the
DVD (or hard drive) or replaced with the latest 30 minute recording of
the news.
If you format your DVD-RW in the VR mode then you can delete videos on
the DVD-RW to make room for more recordings. You also have the option
to format the DVD-RW which deletes every video on the DVD-RW disc, you
might want to do this once a week so that you can continue to record
one week's of news video's.
