I have a Panasonic DMR-EH50S, and I love it, EXCEPT:
It has bugs in the timer firmware. If it is busy downloading
updates to the TV Guide On Screen program guide, it
can sometimes miss making a scheduled recording. The
problem is dependent on the time of day. It has never
happened with the news at noon or the news at 11 p.m.,
but it happens regularly with shows that start at (say) 1:30
p.m. or 7:00 p.m. A recent firmware flash didn't fix it.
Video quality is excellent overall. I usually use SP or LP.
