It seems to be generally-accepted practice to collect a
"demo reel" of your own productions. Even though all
the video is likely owned by others, you are using it
only to show potential employers/customers what you
can do. You aren't selling (or even giving away) any
copies.

When you start including footage owned by others (even
if you produced it) into new productions, that is where
you need permission of the legal owner.
