I order all of my Gaffers tape from Markertek (www.markertek.com).
I've used different brands (Permacel, TecNec) on different jobs
throughout the years and have to admit that I haven't seen a whole lot
of difference between them, just as long as you remember that gaffers
tape is meant to be on temporarily!!! It doesn't take too long before
it starts to leave a sticky residue like duct tape.

I'm sure we've all, at one time or another, had to pull a piece of
gaffers tape of off something (a cable, piece of equipment, etc.) that
somebody decided to leave stuck in place for months on end...not a fun
thing!!!

When I first started at my current job, I had to go through a lot of
bottles of Goo Gone, to clean up cables and other equipment that had
melted-long-ago pieces of gaffers tape on them!!!
