Neil... not trying to start an argument... but I downloaded the manual for your
printer (HP DeskJet 920C Printer Manual.pdf) and could find no mention of ink
cartridges that ship with this printer not being full. Or any wording anything
like that. Do you recall the wording in your manual regarding this?
In researching this I did come across posts about the so-called "time bomb"
built into printers / ink cartridges that disable the cartridge after a given
date. Apparently some HP printers (maybe other brands) have batteries hidden
inside that keep track of cartridge age. Some people say that when an ink
cartridge seems to die prematurely they can get it to work again by either
setting their computer clock back a year and rebooting computer and printer OR
removing or defeating the battery inside the printer. Interesting.
