I recently "batch converted" from 128 to 96..bitrate.

I couldnt tell that much of a marked difference...as far as sound
quality..I'm no audiophile...but the sound was great for me @ a 96
bitrate.

You will save a ton of hard drive space converting...but as far as
overall sound quality...I did'nt see that much of a difference...
