I have an external NEC DVD burner connected to my PC using Firewire for the
past 3 years, never had a single problem and the enclosure was only a
cheapie I got from www.svp.co.uk it's the Sumvision brand enclosure.
The external enclosure also has USB2, but based on personal experiences, I
prefer the more stable IEEE1394 connection in any device where I'd have the
choice between the two.
