Oy weh.
I think your next best hope then is that they come out with a new
firmware update real soon now to fix their mistake.
Another possibility is to Google for a prior level of firmware that
*can* be installed. I have no idea about that, but I sure would search
for that.
It is possible that the drive went south just as you changed the
firmware, of course. I have had things like that happen. Like the time
I installed a new modem, turned it on, and couldn't connect for over an
hour no matter what I tried. Then I learned that the ISP had been down
for more than an hour :-(
