I wouldn't say evil, just shortsighted. Steven Spielberg had the right
idea-he put ET out in a version that included both the unaltered and
changed editions of the film, and I don't remember anybody complaining
because it had the original version on it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Lucas will eventually relent and put
the originals in a super DVD package to coincide with the 30th
anniversary of the first movie in 2007, one that will include pretty
much everything. Guess we'll see...
