FUNNY, BEG!, GATCHAMAN, COLLECTION 5 (VOLUMES 9 AND 10), HAKUGEI: LEGEND
OF THE MOBY DICK: AHAB AWAITS (VOLUME 1), HAKUGEI: LEGEND OF THE MOBY
DICK: ACROSS THE GALAXY (VOLUME 2), OFF THE CHAIN, THE RUSSIAN
SPECIALIST, SHINGU: SECRET OF THE STELLAR WARS (VOLUME 2), and A TIME
FOR BURNING:
ALONZO BODDEN: TALL, DARK AND FUNNY (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 90/100):
"The hit-to-miss ratio for Bodden's material was easily four to one, so
I'll interpret that as a successful program."

BEG! (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 85/100):
"Are you a fan of trippy, beautiful images and gore? You're gonna love
this. You like movies to make sense, and thought Donnie Darko was a
Rorschach test? Then run for the nearest set of hills. Beg! makes about
as much sense as a three-day mescaline binge with a side order of LSD
and chaser shots of peyote and angel dust."

GATCHAMAN, COLLECTION 5 (VOLUMES 9 AND 10) (reviewed by Mike Pinsky,
overall score 83/100):
"It is clear that the producers felt the need to punch up the show's
drama here at the midpoint in the hopes of sustaining our interest for
another 50 or so episodes."

HAKUGEI: LEGEND OF THE MOBY DICK: AHAB AWAITS (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by
Dan Mancini, overall score 80/100):
"An earnest attempt at an anime adaptation of Melville's profound,
sprawling epic of existential dread could only have resulted in
disaster. Desaki and his crew were wise to focus on playing to anime's
strengths: visual splendor, thrilling action, and maybe a few laughs."

HAKUGEI: LEGEND OF THE MOBY DICK: ACROSS THE GALAXY (VOLUME 2) (reviewed
by Dan Mancini, overall score 70/100):
"I admit I experienced paroxysms, but they weren't from laughter."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/hakugeivol2.php
OFF THE CHAIN (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 95/100):
"I think you gentlemen out there will likely find Off the Chain more
emotionally impacting than most other documentaries you may come across,
except, perhaps The History of the Breast. (Judge's Note: I am not aware
of a documentary called The History of the Breast.)"

THE RUSSIAN SPECIALIST (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score
84/100):
"If you're looking for the tortured, multi-layered antagonist who is
reluctant to use firearms, watch Batman Begins. For a dose of alpha-male
shotgunning, go with this."

SHINGU: SECRET OF THE STELLAR WARS (VOLUME 2) (reviewed by Mac McEntire,
overall score 70/100):
"Here's a series about aliens, spaceships, and giant robots secretly
living among humans, and instead the creators spend more than half the
time with the kids in their student council meetings as they plan
upcoming school events."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/shinguvol2.php
A TIME FOR BURNING (reviewed by Jennifer Malkowski, overall score
80/100):
"Though the most obvious conflict in A Time for Burning is between the
tolerant Christians and the intolerant ones, the more haunting theme
that really resonated for me and stuck with me afterwards was the
difficult issue of how to be an ally. That issue is every bit as
relevant today as it was when the naive Pastor Youngdahl strolled
eagerly into Ernie's barber shop."
