Unless you use a lossless format most digital conversions into itunes or
whatever you're using have compression, which is of no interest to a hifi
enthusiast. I have ripped most of my music to put on my ipod for use in the
car or while I'm travelling in full knowledge that the amount of external
noise will cause as much distortion as the file compression. But where ever
possible I always use vinyl or CD.

Turntable: Linn LP12
