Good to know the guidelines for movie theaters, but for a plasma/LCD
panel I would pay more attention to "Viewing Distances Based on Visual
Acuity" than on the recommended 30degrees.

This calculator reports the "Viewing Distances Based on Visual Acuity"
as a _maximum_ distance, while for a plasma/LCD panel I regard it as
an (optimistic) minimum distance.

The point is that it is not a question of wasting picture resolution
but instead the goal is that the sharp pixels in such a direct view
panel should blend with its neighbors to produce a naturally smooth
picture. The distance should therefore ideally be a little bit larger
so that you don't see the pixel structure of the panel.

(In addition there is the MPEG artifact issue and the processing
artifact issue ...)
