I have a quite large selection of commercially made Thai Movies. They
have all previously and still play fine in a Phillips DVD player I
purchased as an All region PAL/NTSC compatible player. About a year ago
I purchase a Liteon 5045 DVD recorder which so far has worked fine
recording dvds but now I find that about 6 of my Thai movies won't
play. Many of the ones that do play fine are region 2 and PAL so I know
the 5045 is multi regional as advertised. I either get an invalid disc
message or the recorder senses them as a blank disc and attempts to
prepare them. I have tried changing from an All region player to region
2 with no success. I did a restore function before this problem became
apparent. After the restore I had to reset the code for no region but I
do know that at least 1 of the discs worked prior to doing the restore.
I have also done a firmware update after the problem surfaced so I know
the firmware neither caused or will fix the problem. I've read reports
about Liteons being somewhat finicky on which media they work with. Any
suggestions on a solution or is a different brand Pioneer or Panasonic a
better choice as a recorder.
