It is illegal to "advertise" the records on the air - has been for a
long time now, >20 years. You play it people want to buy it . . .
You ( the record company ) pays to "air" your merchandise . . . that's
"illegal."
The idea that Radio Stations get money for playing certain RIAA pushed
tunes (as opposed to playing music that the public might just
generally enjoy) was a conflict with big money and the public's
ownership of the airwaves. (or was back in the 60's)
Those airwaves belong to us, the public,- the FCC says so, the
Constitution says so - they won't just let any body start a radio
station - we, the public own the ether . . . (in theory at least)
Given that we now promulgate a Fascist State (or Corporate Oligarchy
if "Fascist" makes you uncomfortable) the (people with money)
corporations make our laws.
So, here it is . . . . You're not (technically, at least)
required to listen to Virgin Crapola every morning. But if you don't
blow up Feferal Buidings, people just won't listen to you - hey it
ain't a nice picture . . . but in (theory) you can get involved in
politics, and get zillions of dollars in (bribes) campaign
contributions, free loans, have your descendents live large, etc.. or
just go after the scum sucking politicians that make Payola (etc)
possible. Most people chose to live large and fuck the rest.
