I had trouble with my LG-4167 trying to burn dual layer disks the
first time -- I never was able to get a successful burn on the cheap
GQ dual layer media from Fry's. I had a similar problem (dual layer
only -- mine does single layer buring perfectly) and I got it to go
further with the Fry's DL disks by forcing the burn to 2.0x rather
than 2.4x. I believe the drive does not do 2.4x and trying to always
fails. After that, the disk burn would complete but the verify would
fail at the layer change (or pretty close -- it did not fail at the
same point every burn, just some point shortly after the midpoint of
the disk).

I do have to say that I really have had no trouble at all with single
layer burns (mostly on Taiyo Yuden printable 4x and 8x DVD-R media).

I use either ImgBurn 1.1 (a really great, free ISO burning program) or
Nero 6.6.

I change to Verbatim DL disks and the one burn attempt since then
completed and verified without any pauses or other signs of problems.
