I've a bunch of old Hi8 tapes I'd like to archive on DVD. For this I've
connected my Sony Camcorder DCR-TR7100E through the firewire port to my
PC (3.2 GHz, 1 Go RAM, Windows XP). Then I play the Hi8 tapes on this
camcorder and capture the signal with Pinnacle Studio 9. On the
beginning everything works fine, then (after about 15 minutes) I loose
more and more frames which I'll notice only once I view the captured
movie : the video plays weigh too fast (though in the capture window
Studio 9 didn't tell me there were any dropped frames!). I've tried
giving best performance to my CPU by closing all other applications and
by running in msconfig (selective boot) mode, disabling the screen
saver and so on. I've also tested the hard drive, it should be fast
enough. This problem doesn't appear when I capture videos from
Digital8 tapes.
I've tested other software like Avisynth (no sound!) or VirtualDub
(doesn't recognize the firewire input).
Thanks for any help or ideas.
Chris
