Sometimes the name's more valuable than the product. I remember hearing the
King Biscuit Flour Hour on syndicated radio about 15 years ago (though it
was always bands like Kansas or the Moody Blues, don't remember any actual
blues artists on it), though I've never actually seen King Biscuit Flour (of
course, I don't bake). Allowing other entities to use the name dilutes its
value, so I can see their concern. You don't buy an entity so others can
profit (or not-for profit) by it. Sounds like they at least tried to reach
some sort of licensing agreement, and I'm guessing 'for free' wasn't
acceptable.

That said, I'd allow it, figure out a dollar value for it, and write it off
as a tax deduction, so I could realize a demonstrable return on it, as well
as the 'intangible' return of a little good PR. But that's just me.
