I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not as I don't yet have fta
equipment. However, I have been very happy with the "All-in-One"
remotes, which are widely available. They are programmable -- by hand
or, if necessary, over the phone, and inexpensive (got mine at
Wal-mart). If you know, or can find out, the codes for the various
functions, you should be all set.

Do some Googling to learn more.

By the way, I am just a domestic consumer, not affiliated with
anybody, who is happy with the product.
