Even if it is still under warranty, many (most?) camcorder
manufacturers have some minimum number of dead pixels
before they will consider repairing/exchanging it. There
is software which can hide individual pixels (by substituting
the adjacent color, etc.) after you have captured the video
into a computer file.
On higher-end cameras, running the manual white balance
and black balance cycles frequently minimizes the visibility.
