You need to pay attention to sound on your next project. Using the camera
microphone guarantees that you'll get distractingly bad sound for all but
those shots, when the camera is within a couple of feet of the person
talking. The cardinal rule for sound is get the microphone as close to the
speaker as you can without it being in the shot. A directional microphone
on a hand-held pole is the most versatile set-up. It is a shame to go to
all the work you did for costumes, lighting, story, etc. and have the sound
take the viewer right out of the story.
