Must say I am one of the few people I know who wasn't mad about the book.
Maybe it was because there weren't enough speech bubbles for my tiny little
mind. :/

Anyway, the movie isn't bad as you say. I came out wondering what I made of
it. It definitely wasn't the "epic clash" it thought it was.
After a few hours I decided I didn't like it.

To me, it takes an unfair stance in order to worm itself into the hearts and
minds of the audience.

In effect, V is a psychotic madman. But because he is the only one fighting
against a caricature fascist regime, then we must all root for him and love
him.

For a similar/ same-in-reverse reason, I hate that fat purple dinosaur,
Barney. He spends his time brainwashing doe-eyed children, having them chant
over and over "I love you, you love me..." until it sticks and kids rush off
to nag their parents to buy the schoolbag.
Well, why _should_ we love Barney, other than because he tells us that he is
in favour of "love"?
His tactic is to make it impossible not to love Barney so that everyone who
does not love Barney is automatically a freak of nature because Barney is
"For Love".
...."Mark that kid -he doesn't love Barney! There's gonna be trouble I tells
ya!"

He's not the only one of course. I weep for kids today. Instead of decent
stories and adventures and genuine surprises, they are spoonfed morality
lessons to be learnt instead of allowed to enjoy a good yarn and take from
it what they will.

Anyway, getting back to V For Vendetta... V, to my mind, is as bad as the
crowd he is fighting against. It's the old blinding argument -"If you're not
in favour of invading Iraq, then you're in favour of Saddam Hussein!"
Since it _forces_ me to love this masked madman for no better reason, I _do_
dislike this movie. It's as blind as what it is fighting against.

-Kevin.
