Two options worth considering:

i) original xbox, modded with XboxMediaCentre. Acts as an excellent media
centre, and plays divx hd files no problem. However, it doesnt quite have
the horsepower to play the wmv9 hd files smoothly.
ii) xbox 360 acts as an excellent media centre extender for any regular pc
with xp media centre installed. It plays true hd video really well, it plays
wmv9 and ts files streamed from your pc. It however, will not play divx.
