I have the following

Yamada dvd/divx player, this has scart in & scart out
Phillips dvd player with surround sound and 1 scart plughole
Sky digibox, tv scart & vcr scart
TV with scarts AV1 AV2

I have phono plugs from the Sky box to the Phillips.
The Yamada only seems to have phono's out to speakers

I cant get sound when I play DVD's on the Yamada, it doesnt seem to matter
what I plug into where. Are phono plugs necessary, I would have thought
scart caried the sound?
I could dispense with the Phillips as the Yamada has 5.1 but I prefer the
sound/controls.

How would I be best to set this up?
