The problem being, with bordering on the pavement, anything low enough
to get decent pics of the scumbags is low enough to be ragged off the
wall...

There`s a slight "bay" to the front (sticks out about 10"-12" in
total!), and a suitably angled wooden surface about 6" wide in the bay
corners internally that would be ideal for mounting something inside -
the only thing is, i`m very wary about using IR illuminators as it`ll
just give the game away. I know you can get the "invisible" wavelength
ones, but suspect they`d have to be mounted externally to be effective
and would suffer from the damage issue.

The other problem I forsee is, especially if they have two cameras, is
which one to record on :-}

The peephole cam is something we`ve already thought on - and it could
be a winner, except the scrotes have a penchant for smashing the
windows on the other side of the house (easier getaway). The front
door is also up a couple of steep steps, so it`d have to be mounted
fairly low to be of use...
