Real newbie here, please help! I was going to replace my dead vcr by
another vcr, but am considering a DVD recorder or HD device.

(1) How much would a basic HD recording cost? Should be stand-alone,
not subscription TIVO. What is its official name, I mean what do I
search for on the internet or ask for in the stores?

(2) How much a basic DVD recorder, capable of programmed recording for
about 6 hours on *reusable* media, cost? Again, what name do I look
for, so I don't end up with a machine that only records to non-reusable
dvd's?
