I've been noticing something that I never put much thought into before
when I watch DVDs. Lately, I've noticed that in movies when there's a
pan shot of a horizon, or really any sustained camera movement, the
scene sort of skips. It's not smooth like it would be if you watched
the same movie in the theater on actual film. My guess is that it has
something to do with DVDs being a digital medium.
My DVD player is a Panasonic single disc player that I got around 1999.
Have there been advances in technology that would make this problem
less apparent? Does anyone even know what I'm TALKING about? DVD
players have gone down in price so much since 1999 that I'd be up for
getting a new player, even though I love my Panasonic, but I'd feel a
lot better if I knew this wasn't going to be in vain! If anyone has any
advice on this, I'd love to hear it.
