No manufacturer should honor any warranty for any product that is not an authorized vendor. Suppose
I bought a video camera from Walmart and left it in my closet for a year and then decided to sell it
to someone (NEW) on ebay. The buyer uses it for 3 months and it breaks. They look at the warranty
and say "great! There is a 1 year warranty:" The warranty is expired as far as the manufacturer is
concened because the warranty began the day it was sold through an authorized reseller. End of
story. So, if some guy buys 100 discontinued video cameras from Sears so he can sell them on ebay,
the warrany begins the day he buys them because he is just an end user (a consumer) and has no
relationship with the manufacturer.
If I bought something brand new on ebay from a private individual, then I would expect no warranty
from the manufacturer. I would put some pressure on the seller but I wouldnt bother the
manufacturer, who has no idea what the product has been through since it left it's shipping dept.
