There will be better people to explain things than I but I suspect
you're burning things to discs as data files, rather than making them
into a real dvd.
I don't do this myself so i can't say 100%. The other thing I'm
thinking is if you're finalising the discs? If a DVD isn't finalised
it probably will not play on other devices (apparently there are
exceptions to that rule).
