Yes, it is clearly not a problem with the camera part of the camcorder
or else you would see the problem in the viewfinder while recording.

Yup. I'm going to try one pass with the Sony head cleaning cassette
(that came with the camcorder). And if that doesn't fix it, I'll take it
to my local authorized Sony repair shop.
