Unfortunately time is not something they have. If something else better and
cheaper and less of a format battle comes along then they will both loose.
They only have two to three years to win and I doubt that that will happen.

You have to remember that formats don't last like they used to. VHS lasted
20 years, CD more than that. DVD is being replaced before 10 years. The life
of formats is getting shorter which means companies can't afford long drawn
out format wars. The two sides in this should have come together. It really
isn't what they want and they don't seem to understand that. It is what the
consumer wants. Right now we don't want a format war so we won't play. Of
course there are the stupid that will buy anything some company offers. But,
in the end there aren't enough of them to help.

Even after the war is over a few years from now. I won't touch the winner.
By then they next thing will be around the corner. Besides my DVD collection
and the 22 DVD players I have bought and have in storage for the future will
take me well in to the 21st century. I am not going to be pressed in to
buying something that I don't need or want.
