well, they sometimes have suffered because of their choice of niche.
sony has chutzpa and tries to steer the entire industry, even when
everyone is against them.

in this case, however, the majority of the industry is WITH them,
including their most hated rivals. so, end of story.

that's true, but i have a personal goal that blu-ray succeed. i'm a
Java ME programmer and this market is only one of many that Java ME
will hopefully dominate.

By using Java, the blu-ray group is basically going the same direction
as the smart card group and the cellphone manufacturers did - allowing
the 4.5 million Java developers access to develop lots of apps and
games for an industry.
