Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim
Hands Down ----
I've made over 1400 DVD-R's in the last 10 months and I've learned some HARD
lessons about DVDR's:
If you want high quality and don't mind a semi High price --- go with
Verbatim 8X DVD-R (minus R)
All of my fellow local production companies use these;
If you want good but cheap: Go with Taiyo Yuden ---some great deals can be
had.
I use www.supermediastore.com
My PVA just had a great discussion about DVD's in general.
Store them vertically in a DRY area. Put them in DVD cases --- NOT CD Jewel
Cases, as you can cause
layer separation starting with the hub---- otherwise.
Keep them out of the sunlight
Some people think storing video file data onto DVD RAM disks is the way to
go because they will "age" better
longevity-wise, because they are written-to like hard drives and they are
inside special cartridges.
Keep your tape masters in a dry, secure space as well -- because you just
never know, right?
