dude, i make money off server side development and mobile. this IS my

did you actually read that page? the java apps can run directly on the
disc. OBVIOUSLY there would be no point to that unless a player is
there to provide energy source and user interaction.

and btw, if HD-DVD decided to switch to using Java then i would be all
for it...in fact, i'd welcome it and give toshiba a BIG BIG HUG. i have
no problems with either format, so long as they provide the ability to
give consumers much more choices and abilities.

the main point though is that HD-DVD does NOT, which means it is a one
trick pony and has not that many features at all compared to blu-ray.

note too that in the case of HD-DVD, you "might" get the few stuff
above..then again, you might not.

all blu-ray players come with Java, which means all blu-ray player by
default can do lotsa stuff in basic form.
