really? i'll be surprised if toshiba's HDDVD lasts 2 years as an
option. toshiba is a lot smaller than the other companies supporting
blu-ray and it seems it's betting its future on this.
you call them "tricks"...i call them features, and features that push
blu-ray capabilities significantly higher than toshiba's HDDVD.
i was on hand when people first started pooh-pooing the use of apps
(inc ringtones) in cellphones, and the addition of "tricks" such as
cameras and bluetooth, etc. Now, many people are willing to pay several
hundred dollars for "tricks" like these, and an entire billion dollar
industry was created.
in the same way, there will always be a market for features that
increase the enjoyment of people who view their movies.
you'll say, well, i won't enjoy them...hey, fine with me....
it's again a matter of choice. if you choose to have the most basic
models around you, fine. if you want greater interactivity, a deeper
way to enjoy a movie, then there's always blu-ray.
