About the pricing.

these are initial prices, and the high end toshiba is in the $800 range
already, almost similar to the samsung, which carries more storage. .
as time passes, a case might be made that the fact that there many more
manufacturers of blu-ray means the price of blu-ray players will go
down faster compared to HDDVD, simply because of the possibly larger
market for blu-ray player components and the resulting efficiencies of
manufacturing in volume.

in the end, we'll see.
