If I want to make a compilation disc of several music recordings will
this work.

Take the the optical or coaxial audio out to a DVD burners digital
audio in and record the music. I do not care about the video and these
are my store bought recordings. The key for me is to record the
surround signals and be able to play them back on the new recording.
