For several months, I've been sporadically looking for mp3 versions of
music that I already own on both LP and cassette, (thank you very much
RIAA), so I can load it into my Walkman. Couldn't find it, so I saw
that Buy.com had the download available for 9.99. (OK - so I was gonna
share it too. That's what I do.)
I almost caved, but their user agrement is scary. I'm not up on all the
technical stuff, but damn - all I wanted was 9 -10 songs, and I had to
agree to download all kinds of codecs and DRMs - whatever those are...
It was far too long for me to even dwell on. I thought "This can't be
good!" and I ran weeping into this den of sympathy. <Insert Hammering here>
Needless to say, there shall be no "Mad Love" Linda Ronstadt on my CD
player, unless I find it cheap at a damn yard sale or something.
Sucks. She did a cover of Elvis Costello's "Party Girl" that I really like.
