It would chop up the lower quality ones too just at a different time. The
four hour mode uses more compression so there would have been more audio in
video in the file, you just hadn't gotten enough video and audio for the
break in the VOB to be generated.

For example at 1 hour quality you get 1 hour of video on a 4.7GB disc. At 4
hours you get 4 hours of video and audio on the disc and that disc still
holds 4.7GB so at this mode you get more audio and video in the first VOB
file than the with 1 hour quality. But, you would still end up with the same
number of VOB files if you had used all of the space 1 hour or 4 hour.

It is a little confusing. I think your problem is that Video DVD was just
not meant for this use. What you need to do is find another format your
dictation peddle will use that includes the audio and video (since you seem
to needed) and convert it to that. Something like QuickTime or AVI. This
will give you one large file without the breaks that are causing you
problems.

What you need to do is find a program that can basically convert a Video DVD
to a QuickTime or Windows Video AVI file or whatever other format your
peddle will work with and not try to use the Video DVD past this conversion.
