You DO know Java is actually the standard for enterprise web apps,
right?

Google uses Java on its backend (including Gmail), eBay runs hundreds
of millions of transactions on Java every day, about 90% of financial
instituions worldwide use Java, etc, etc.

You are probably talking about browser-based "applets", which were
supplanted partly by Flash - but in this case the niche, banner ads and
annoying website intros, is something i'm glad is not Java.
