Not true! The DVR-110D can be easily cross-flashed with 110 firmware
-- the latest is Pioneer 1.39 (or even better -- Buffalo 8.39, if you
want the addition of bitsetting for kludgey DVD+R media). If you also
want the drive to be RPC-1 (region free), then get your firmware at:

I've done it myself (with Buffalo 8.39 firmware) for my (at one time)
110D writer. It is now a 110 and is perfectly compatible with DVD-RAM
media (I've tested it and can verify this). In fact my DVD burning
software reads it now as a pure 110 writer, and not a 110D anymore.
