I was the guy that recommended the ADVC-100, because even though the
110 is newer, the 100 is all he needs and if he can find it used on
ebay for half the original $300 price, that's a better deal for his
midest needs. If I could find an ADVC-100 in perfect shape for just
$100, I'd snap that baby up. What I said to him was he could find a
Dvcamcorder that also did analog conversion and feed into his laptop
via firewire, and could play back out to feed a stand-alone VHS deck,
for around the same $300, so his choice is to get the Dv camcorder,
which expands his options and lets him shoot Dv direct as well as
convert to and from his legacy analog VHS stuff, or just get the
converter, which only converts. My personal suggestion is the Dv
camcorder is the better long-term buy, and if he can get the converter
for under $200, that's the best short-term buy.
