Pixel response time has nothing to do with what this - you do get that don't
you? Flicker is not possible with LCD - period. You don't have to believe
it, but you shouldn't say it because it isn't accurate.
Judder is possible - and is more an element of 24fps material that is shown
on 60fps displays.
Stairstepping is possible - and is an element of interlaced material being
shown on progressive scan displays.
But, while LCD flat panels have poor pixel response time, they will NOT
flicker. They never go 'off' unless told to - so no flicker is possible.
Most of all: What about LCD projection? DLP projection? LCoS? None of
those are nearly as slow as LCD flat panels in terms of response time, and
none of them suffer from this issue either. Of those, only plasma is
phosphor based.
But please - keep explaining it as magazines being inaccurate, manufacturers
fudging specs, and LCDs refreshing to the same state they are already in.
That'll eventually convince me that you are right - I'm sure. ;o) Really -
lighten up.

Who cares about two complete scans? By the time the second scan is
starting, *none** of the pixels have finished changing from the first scan.
Thus, *every* pixel gets changed again before it finishes changing for
the first time.
In addition, some manufacturers fudge their specs (say it isn't so!) so
that an LCD rated at 15ms can only achieve that in very specific
circumstances (usually white to black or black to white). Other changes
can require more time...sometimes as much as twice as long. If that's
the case, then some pixels will get *two* new change requests before it
finishes changing for the first time.
